For the Love of Children Society - Mwanza, Tanzania Chapter
The For Love of Children Society of Alberta (FLOC), Mwanza Tanzania Chapter has recently been created by
Zahra Karmali and is involved with a network of NGO’s (non government organizations) and participants in bringing awareness to children’s
rights and the growing number of street children. Zahra Karmali, Project Manager has started a program called Lunch Hour,
which specifically focuses on the growing numbers of street children. In this program, members of the city council,
parliament, the Regional Commissioner’s office, members of the media, and members of active NGO’s are invited to participate by
acknowledging and addressing the issue of street children.
The Society has been instrumental in paying for well balanced meals for 200 – 400 children.
The Mwanza Chapter focus’s all their efforts into community building & helping members of their community
participate in a combined effort to rebuild the community.
Other projects that have been started in Mwanza are the building of a water well, buying a school bus, planning &
fundraising to build a recreational centre for children where they can receive discreet counselling and free medical assistance.
